Shepperton Studios Community Fund and Education Fund

We are proud to collaborate with Shepperton Studios on two significant initiatives: the Shepperton Studios Community Fund and the Shepperton Studios Education Fund. These funds are designed to enrich the local community, foster youth development, and support educational opportunities in the film and media sectors.

Shepperton Studios Community Fund

Launched in January 2022, the £500,000 Shepperton Studios Community Fund is a decade-long commitment to benefit individuals, non-profit organisations, and community groups within Shepperton and the broader Spelthorne borough. The fund focuses on three primary areas:

  • Youth Development: Creating opportunities for young people to develop skills, particularly in screen-based and media industries. This includes investing in facilities, training programmes, and summer schools.

  • Community Development: Enhancing local communities through improved facilities, events, and green initiatives aimed at reducing emissions and achieving net-zero targets.

  • Supporting Underprivileged and Disadvantaged Groups: Making a tangible difference for individuals and communities lacking other funding sources, especially those who are underprivileged or disadvantaged.

Since its inception, the fund has supported 17 local organisations. In the latest round, five organisations received grants, including TALK Ashford, Home-Start Spelthorne, Dance Woking, Charlton Village Residents Association, and the National Childbirth Trust Sunbury and Shepperton Branch. These grants have facilitated a range of projects, from supporting individuals with aphasia to enhancing community spaces and providing vital services to new parents.

Shepperton Studios Education Fund

In August 2024, Shepperton Studios expanded its community engagement by introducing the £250,000 Education Fund. This initiative aims to nurture the next generation of filmmakers by supporting film and media education across primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. As part of Shepperton’s ‘Virtual Academy,’ the fund provides young people in Shepperton and the wider Spelthorne area with the skills and training necessary for success in the creative industries.

The Education Fund is particularly focused on aiding under-represented and underprivileged groups who may face barriers to accessing such opportunities. It supports a wide range of projects, from upgrading technology and equipment in educational institutions to developing creative curriculum programmes that inspire and foster practical learning experiences.

Our Partnership and Impact

Shepperton Studios approached CFSurrey to leverage our expertise and knowledge of local projects, ensuring that both funds effectively address community needs. We are responsible for making informed grant award decisions and overseeing the implementation and monitoring of supported projects.

Rebecca Bowden, Chief Executive of CFSurrey, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership:

“We’re excited to be delivering the Shepperton Studios Community Fund to help bridge some of the gaps presented across young people and communities within Shepperton and surrounding areas. This funding will make a real and lasting difference to those within those communities who need it most. We are most grateful to Pinewood Group Limited for helping us to achieve this.”

Through these collaborative efforts, Shepperton Studios and CFSurrey are making a lasting positive impact on the local community, empowering individuals, and fostering growth in the creative industries.
