The Kate Livingstone Community Fund: Responding to Emerging Needs in Surrey
At the Community Foundation for Surrey (CFSurrey), we are honoured to manage the Kate Livingstone Community Fund, established in September 2024 through an arrangement made between Kate and her professional advisor for her Will. This fund ensures that Kate’s legacy continues by supporting communities across Surrey, particularly those facing unmet or emerging needs.
A Flexible Fund to Address Community Priorities
The Kate Livingstone Community Fund is structured as an Endowment Fund, meaning the capital is invested for long-term sustainability, with grants awarded from the income generated. This approach ensures that Kate’s vision of helping those most in need continues year after year.
The fund provides grants to non-profit organisations, including:
✔ Charities
✔ Community groups
✔ Voluntary organisations
✔ Social enterprises
Grants can be used to enhance existing services, support new initiatives, and cover both capital and running costs, ensuring flexibility in addressing the most pressing needs in Surrey.
Supporting Those Most in Need
The Kate Livingstone Community Fund is unique in its ability to respond to urgent and emerging needs that may not fit within the criteria of other donor funds at CFSurrey. This ensures that gaps in funding are filled, and vital projects receive the support they need.
The Community Foundation for Surrey’s Trustees will oversee grant decisions if the original fund advisors are no longer able to do so, ensuring continued impact for the community.
A Lasting Legacy
By creating an Endowment Fund, the Kate Livingstone Community Fund provides a sustainable source of funding for communities across Surrey, ensuring ongoing support for the most vulnerable. The fund is a testament to Kate Livingstone’s generosity and commitment to making a difference in people’s lives.
