Mamie Mollan Community Fund
The Mamie Mollan Community Fund is an In Memory Fund established to perpetuate the generous spirit of artist and writer, Mamie Mollan. Throughout her life, Mamie was dedicated to supporting individuals facing challenges or in need of recuperation. This fund ensures her legacy of compassion continues to make a meaningful impact on those in crisis within our Surrey communities.
Mission and Focus Areas
The Mamie Mollan Community Fund provides grants to charities, community, and voluntary groups that assist individuals during times of need or crisis. The fund focuses on supporting those experiencing difficulties due to:
Illness or Injury: Offering aid to individuals and families navigating health challenges.
Disability: Enhancing accessibility and providing resources for those with physical or mental disabilities.
Bereavement: Providing support services to help individuals cope with the loss of loved ones.
Financial Hardship: Assisting those struggling with economic difficulties to regain stability.
Domestic Violence: Supporting survivors through counselling, shelter, and recovery programmes.
Additionally, the fund awards grants to groups offering respite, counselling, training, and skill development, empowering individuals to overcome personal challenges and improve their circumstances.
Impactful Grants
The Mamie Mollan Community Fund has made a significant difference through various grants:
Topic of Cancer – £3,000 Grant: This organisation provides local support services for cancer patients and their families, including social meetings, exercise classes, and a choir. The grant supported the operational costs of their weekly choir, which offers therapeutic benefits to patients during treatment and recovery, complementing other support groups available.
Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity – £1,500 Grant: The Rainbow Trust offers practical and emotional support to families with a child facing a life-threatening or terminal illness. The funding enabled the Surrey Care Team to host a series of Sibling Support Days over 12 months, organising outings to places like Bockett’s Farm, Drusilla’s Park, and Legoland. These activities provided families with much-needed quality time together during challenging periods.
